Have you noticed that there are a lot of micro-breweries opening in Alberta lately?
It is certainly a growing trend! This magnificent province went from just 10 Micro-breweries in 2010 to over 40 in 2016 and there are more on the way! This rapidly-growing industry is not only a massive boon to the provincial economy, it has changed the way Albertans view local products, and has opened a lot of eyes to the impressive world of craft beer!
This week: September 23 – Oct 1, is Alberta Beer Week. This is the one week out of the year when we take more than a little pride in Alberta-brewed beers and really encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and try something different!
The Alberta Small Brewer’s Association (ASBA) supports and advocates for local breweries. We are proud to be a member of this great organization! ASBA teams up with local brewers, restaurant owners, and liquor store agents to market and support local beer made by local breweries. You should definitely check out their website: www.albertabrewers.ca to learn more about local breweries and responsible beer consumption.
So we have a challenge for you: this fine Alberta Beer Week. We want you to try as many locally-brewed beers as possible. Set aside your regular brand for these few days and explore your beer horizons. Then, you should definitely come and visit our place and tell us about your favorite beers!
